George W Ashton

 

Died aged 42 on 12/10/1919. George was Private 405319 Labour Corps. He was the husband of Fanny Ashton of 25 Brough Street, Owlerton, Sheffield. His MIC reads – Victory, British War and 1915 Star medals, he landed in France on 27/8/15. Also noted is the fact he was 18867 York & Lancs Regiment prior to being transferred to the Labour Corps. He is buried in Wardsend Cemetery, Sheffield but his name is commemorated on a Screen Wall at City Road Cemetery, Sheffield, commemorating those buried at Wardsend Cemetery. His name also appears on the St. Bartholomews Roll of Honour at Primrose Avenue, Sheffield.
