Richard Griffiths
Died on 24/4/1916. Richard was Company Serjeant Major 16th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Born at Shrewsbury he enlisted at Chester. MIC – Victory, British War and 1915 Star medals, landed France on 2/12/15. He is buried at Chester (Overleigh) Cemetery, 1981.

He had lived at 42 Francis Street, Chester. He had formerly worked on the L. and N.W. Railway at Chester as a Porter. He was a Sergt. Major in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and had served in the South African War, and the First World War. He was invalided home from France suffering from Shell Shock and Pneumonia. He died in hospital in Sheffield and left a wife and two children. His funeral took place with Military Honours. The firing party was from the Depot, Wrexham. Also the Castle Depot Band attended.
