Frederick Charles Arnold

He joined the Middlesex Regiment at the start of WW1 (he lived in Regents Park, London) and then served in the Machine Gun Corp got gassed at Ypres - lost his memory and was blinded for a while and was in a field hospital and then I assume spent time at Wharncliffe.

I am assuming that he got gassed in the third battle of Ypres at Paschendale (20/7/1917 - 6/11/1917) and was discharged from Wharncliffe prior to September 1918 as he was witness at his brothers wedding at that date.

Looking through the medal card index that I believe to be almost 100% complete I have found a record for Frederick Arnold Pte Middx Reg, #G/49354 - the other Frederick Charles Arnold records are either the wrong regiment or rank but I am suprised that the record I found he is shown as Frederick and not Frederick Charles Arnold.

Thanks to Stephen Arnold
